A 75-year-old woman is in a life-threatening condition in hospital following an armed burglary at a property on Tollington Park in Finsbury Park, North London. The incident occurred at approximately 9:20pm on Tuesday, August 11, prompting an immediate response from emergency services.
Incident details and response
Upon arrival, officers from the Metropolitan Police found the woman with serious injuries. She was transported to a hospital, where she remains in a critical state. The specific nature of her injuries has not been disclosed by the police.
An 81-year-old man, also present at the scene, was treated by the London Ambulance Service and subsequently taken to a medical facility for further care. He has since been discharged from hospital.
Ongoing investigation and cordon
A cordon was established around St Mellitus Church and along Evershot Road to allow forensic teams to gather evidence. As of 4pm on Wednesday, the cordon remained in place.
No arrests have been made in connection with the burglary, and the Metropolitan Police have confirmed that enquiries are ongoing. In a statement, the Met urged any witnesses to come forward to assist with the investigation.
