The Maria Alexander, a 70ft by 12ft canal boat, has arrived at Limehouse Basin after a stint at Little Venice, offering Londoners a unique private spa experience on the water. The floating wellness retreat features a hot tub, wood-fired sauna, and a treatment menu including restorative massages and indulgent facials.
Private Hire and Pricing
The spa boat is available for private hire for groups of one to four people, for up to four hours. Pricing starts at £125 for a two-hour private floating spa and treatment for one guest, which includes a soothing aromatic foot soak, a 30-minute relaxation massage, and full use of the spa facilities. For two guests, the price rises to £175. The boat has proven most popular with couples, according to the founders.
Founders and Concept
The concept was created by Corvin Roman and Ingrid Eriksson. Ingrid brings a wellness background, while Corvin works in insurance but has completed a massage course. They aimed to provide a more personal experience than a hotel spa. The website describes the Maria Alexander as a 'spa unlike any other', and the founders believe the gentle rocking of the water enhances the therapeutic effects of heat, hydrotherapy, and massage.
Accolades and Location
In June, the Maria Alexander was named the best wellness retreat in London by lifestyle guide Muddy Stilettos. The boat is currently moored at Leisure Moorings, Repton St, E14 7NZ, in Limehouse Basin. While the nearby DLR may be audible, the spa's private setting helps create a tranquil escape.
