Jimmy Chilimigras, an 18-year-old from Mississippi, graduated from law school in May, becoming one of the youngest ever to do so. Now, he aims to take on social media companies and reform US tax law.
Early Signs of Genius
Chilimigras spoke in full sentences at age two and was homeschooled, earning a high school diploma at 12. By 15, he had completed bachelor's and master's degrees in accounting online.
World's Youngest CPA
He became the world's youngest certified public accountant (CPA) after passing a rigorous four-part exam, studying for each part over one to two months.
Law School Journey
Scoring 174 out of 180 on the LSAT before turning 16, Chilimigras enrolled at Loyola University New Orleans. He carpooled from his family home, 60 miles away, and often found classmates recognized him from media coverage.
Age Differences at School
In class, a professor once joked about marijuana smell, glancing at Chilimigras. At bar events, he ordered milk or cranberry juice while peers drank alcohol. Despite this, he ranked in the top 2% of his class and graduated with highest honors on May 10.
Future Plans
Chilimigras is studying for the bar exam and will pursue a master of laws (LLM) in taxation at Northwestern University. He wants to litigate for jury trials in tax disputes and exceptions to IRS deadlines. He also plans to hold social media companies liable for addictive designs, citing concerns for siblings and friends.
“What they’re creating is extremely predatory and harmful,” Chilimigras said. “You have a duty to protect people from harm, and if you breach that duty, you should be held liable.”
