John Cena has revealed he recently underwent a second hair transplant, sharing a bald look on Facebook ahead of the procedure. The 49-year-old former wrestler-turned-actor admitted that fan scrutiny 'pushed' him to seek treatment for his hair loss.
Cena announces 'round 2 of FUE Treatment'
Cena took to Facebook to announce 'round 2 of FUE Treatment,' referring to Follicular Unit Excision. This minimally invasive hair transplant involves extracting individual hair follicles from a donor area—typically the back of the head—and implanting them into balding or thinning areas. In his post, Cena said he 'went all in for best possible results' and included a photo of himself shaking hands with Ken Anderson, described as a 'global leader in hair restoration surgery.' The image showed Cena with a completely bald head, which he likely shaved to give his Georgia-based surgeon better visibility to the areas needing treatment.
Cena's openness about hair loss journey
Last year, while attending an HBO Max presents Peacemaker event, Cena told a reporter he was 'not ashamed' of his hair transplant. 'I did it, I'm happy with it,' he said, demonstrating how the procedure works by gesturing to the lower back of his head and explaining that 'all they do is move the hair' from the bottom to the top. In 2026, Cena opened up further about his scalp care routine, revealing that 'every day, without fail,' he follows a regimen that includes red light therapy, vitamins, minoxidil, finasteride, staying hydrated, and 'making good choices to keep what's up there healthy.' Minoxidil and finasteride are the two most clinically proven treatments for male pattern baldness.
Fan support pushed Cena to seek treatment
In an August 2025 cover story for People magazine, Cena confessed that his WWE fans held him 'accountable' when he tried to hide his hair loss. 'They don't let you get away with phoning it in, because they'll eat you alive. That's what a good support system does,' he said. Cena recalled seeing signs that said 'The bald John Cena,' which 'pushed me into going to see what my options were and actually do some homework to learn about scalp health, hair health, follicle health.' He expressed regret for not having tried the procedure sooner, attributing the delay to 'shame' and stigma surrounding men and hair loss. 'I hate the fact that if there wasn't so much shame around it, I'd have gotten it done 10 years ago. I thought I was alone, but seven or eight out of 10 [men] suffer from thinning or baldness,' he added.
Fans praise Cena's transparency
Following Cena's Facebook post, many fans praised his openness. One commenter wrote, 'Good for John Cena to have the confidence to share and talk about it,' while another said, 'Owning it will go down in history.' Others noted that Cena 'rocks the bald head' and that it 'suits him,' with some joking that 'bald Cena wasn't on [their] 2026 wrestling bingo card.'
