Jack Tweed, the widower of late reality TV star Jade Goody, has been formally charged with drug-driving following his arrest in December. The 39-year-old former Celebrity Big Brother contestant is accused of driving with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the legal limit, according to Essex Police.
Tweed was pulled over by officers on Three Mile Hill in Chelmsford, Essex, on 6 December. Reports from The Sun indicate that he had 5.6 micrograms of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the active component of cannabis, per litre of blood in his system at the time of the arrest. This level is nearly three times the legal limit of two micrograms per litre.
Court appearance scheduled
Tweed is scheduled to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court on Monday to face the single charge. A spokesperson for Essex Police confirmed the development, stating: 'A man is due to appear in court on Monday charged with a drug-driving offence.' The spokesperson added: 'Jack Tweed, 39, was arrested on Three Mile Hill, Chelmsford, on 6 December. He was charged with driving a motor vehicle with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the specified limit.'
The charge comes more than a decade after the death of Jade Goody, who passed away at the age of 27 following a highly publicised battle with cervical cancer. The couple married just one month before her death in March 2009, at Down Hall country house near Hatfield Heath, after Tweed proposed by the River Thames.

Tweed has remained dedicated to preserving Goody's memory, frequently sharing old photographs of the pair on Instagram and fundraising for cancer charities in her honour. Goody's public struggle with the disease is credited with prompting hundreds of thousands of calls to Cancer Research UK and significantly boosting awareness of cervical cancer across the UK.
Tweed first began dating Goody in 2006, and the couple appeared together on Celebrity Big Brother the following year. Through their marriage, Tweed became stepfather to Goody's two sons, Bobby and Freddy, whom she shared with former partner Jeff Brazier. Although Tweed and the boys became estranged for a period, they reconnected several years ago and are believed to maintain a good relationship.
