Home Bargains has issued an urgent recall for a popular snack, warning customers not to eat it due to a potential health risk. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) announced the recall of Lay's Sour Cream & Dill Crisps, sold exclusively at Home Bargains stores across the UK.
The recall affects 125g packs with a best-before date up to and including October 31. The FSA advises anyone who has purchased the product to return it immediately for a full refund. 'If you have bought this product, do not eat it,' the FSA said in a statement.
Undeclared Allergens Trigger Recall
The recall was initiated because the crisps contain undeclared allergens—specifically milk and wheat—which are not listed in the ingredients. This poses a serious risk to individuals with allergies or intolerances to dairy or gluten. Home Bargains echoed the warning, telling shoppers 'do not consume' the American potato snack.
According to the FSA, no other Lay's products, flavors, sizes, or variety packs are affected. Only the specific 125g packs of Sour Cream & Dill from Home Bargains are included in this recall.

Approximately 20 million people in the UK are allergic to dairy, with symptoms ranging from uncomfortable gas and bloating to nausea, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. For those with gluten intolerance or coeliac disease—an autoimmune disorder where the body attacks the small intestine upon gluten exposure—consuming these crisps could trigger severe reactions.
The FSA has not confirmed any reported illnesses linked to the recalled crisps. However, the agency emphasizes the importance of heeding the recall to prevent potential health emergencies.

This recall follows a similar incident last month involving Doritos, when some Chilli Heatwave packs were found to contain Tangy Cheese flavored crisps. The spicy flavor does not contain milk, while the cheesy variety does, leading to an urgent recall by the FSA.
