Stevie Nash (Elinor Lawless) is determined to fight for her position at Holby ED after a complaint was made against her. The consultant's future came under question after Dylan Keogh (William Beck) reported her to Clinical Lead Flynn Byron (Olly Rix) last week after he uncovered the truth about son Matty Linlaker's (Aron Julius) secret relationship with her.
Stevie and Matty's affair revealed
Stevie and Matty had an affair in the wake of Kim Chang's (Jasmine Bayes) tragic death but Stevie called the whole thing off – via text message – when Matty stated that he was 'falling' for her. Dylan, who had confided in Stevie about his desire to build a relationship with son Matty, felt betrayed when he uncovered the truth and thus – with Matty having covered for Dr Nash when she accidentally administered a morphine overdose to a child – he made a complaint. Flynn revealed that the allegations made against Stevie 'amount to sexual coercion', which left Stevie floored.
HR inquiry takes place
An inquiry was carried out during this week's episode, with Dylan, Matty and Stevie all appearing before a board of HR members. Overwhelmed with hurt, Dylan stated that he no longer thinks Stevie should work at Holby. Stevie, meanwhile, worried that the day in question could prove to be her last shift as a doctor. Matty assured her that he didn't know of Dylan's plan to report her and would assure HR that there was no coercion involved. But as the episode progressed, tensions escalated once more between Matty and Stevie, leaving Stevie unsure of what the future held for her ahead of Matty's meeting with HR.
Stevie apologises and fights for her career
Later, Dylan told Stevie of how he felt betrayed at her for conducting a relationship with his son – and keeping shtum about the overdose incident – all the while he confided in her about trying to build a bond with Matty. Stevie was convinced that her career was at stake following the complaint but, after successfully saving a patient's life, her confidence in her ability was restored once more and thus she headed to HR. 'I would like to apologise unreservedly for my behaviour. I have no doubt whatsoever that I've made mistakes,' she told the board. The consultant went on to brand herself a 'good doctor', reiterating that she 'deserves' to be at Holby ED. 'And I'll fight foot and nail to make sure I stay.'
What happens next?
But while Stevie is adamant that her staying is a necessity, will the HR board see it that way? Has she done enough to plead her case? Or is it the end of her career? Casualty airs Saturday at 8:30pm on BBC One or stream from 6am on BBC iPlayer.
