Coronation Street's George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley) is set to uncover a shocking secret about his partner Christina Boyd (Amy Robbins) in upcoming episodes. After three years away from the cobbles, actor Joe Osborne returns to the ITV soap, but this time as a new character – Christina's ex-husband.
George's Suspicion Grows
In scenes due to air soon, George suggests a romantic dinner at the bistro, but Christina turns him down, claiming she has taken on another cleaning job. Disappointed and suspicious, George decides to follow Christina to the precinct, where he watches in horror as she meets a man and embraces him. George bounds over and demands to know what is going on.
Joe Osborne's Return
According to The Sun, the former lover will be played by Joe Osborne, who is no stranger to Weatherfield. Osborne previously appeared in 2023 as businessman Jason Waterford, who tried to buy the pub from Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) and was involved in an insider trading scandal with Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan). Prior to that, in 2017, he portrayed Rod Kempson.
Relationship Under Pressure
George and Christina have become a hugely loved Corrie couple. Their dynamic is strong, and in recent weeks they have focused on supporting Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) in the aftermath of the abuse he suffered at the hands of Theo Silverton (James Cartwright). For a duo who live in Weatherfield, they have not faced much drama impacting their relationship – but that is about to change.
Murder Investigation Context
Christina, who is Daisy Midgeley's (Charlotte Jordan) biological mother, is one of many Weatherfield residents questioned over Theo's murder. George was also interviewed about his movements on Theo's final night. However, the couple are completely innocent, as viewers know that Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien) actually killed the man.
