XOYO Club Reopens After Major Shoreditch Refurb

One of London's most iconic underground music venues is poised to make a spectacular return this week, following an extensive two-month refurbishment project. The legendary XOYO club in Shoreditch will reopen its doors on January 31, 2026, marking a significant new chapter under fresh independent ownership.

A New Era for a London Institution

Acquired by Propaganda Independent Venues in November 2025 alongside Camden Assembly, XOYO has returned to independent hands with ambitious plans to transform it into a cultural hub for the local area. The new owners have committed to offering opportunities and support to local artists and businesses, signalling a community-focused approach to the venue's future operations.

Substantial Technical and Design Upgrades

The refurbishment has focused on enhancing every aspect of the visitor experience. XOYO's famous basement has undergone a complete redesign, while the venue's Void soundsystem has been meticulously recalibrated to deliver superior audio quality for club-goers. The stage and DJ booth configurations have been reworked to create more immersive and inclusive experiences for both performers and audiences.

Visual elements have received equal attention, with custom-built LED cubes installed to provide enhanced atmospheric lighting throughout the basement area. These technical improvements represent a significant investment in maintaining XOYO's reputation as a premier destination for electronic music enthusiasts.

Transformed Upper Level and Programming Vision

The upstairs area has been completely reimagined as 'The Jungle', featuring a new and improved sound system, redesigned booths, LED screens, and decorative greenery elements. This creates a distinct atmosphere separate from the main basement club space.

New owner Kirk Allen expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating: 'We're excited to take over the legendary event space, XOYO and give it the attention and love it deserves. The reaction has been insane, so much love and support. We plan to bring special guests every weekend across all music genres. This isn't a comeback, it's a reset.'

Building on a Storied Legacy

Established in 2010, XOYO has built an impressive reputation over sixteen years as one of London's most significant underground music venues. The Shoreditch basement club has hosted performances from major artists including Skepta, Fatboy Slim, and Jamie xx, alongside legendary DJs such as Bicep, Honey Dijon, and Goldie.

The reopening party on January 31 will feature an exciting lineup including Fleur Shore, St David, BTAY, Tom Haigh, Nathan Payne, Another George, and Shana G, showcasing the venue's commitment to diverse musical programming from its relaunch.

This comprehensive refurbishment represents more than just physical improvements to the venue. It signals a renewed commitment to London's nightlife scene at a time when independent venues face increasing challenges. By upgrading technical capabilities while maintaining the venue's underground character, XOYO's new owners aim to secure its position as a cornerstone of London's cultural landscape for years to come.
