Two New Wetherspoons Pubs to Open in Central London This Autumn
Two New Wetherspoons Pubs Set for Central London This Autumn

JD Wetherspoon is expanding its presence in central London with two new pubs opening this autumn. The first, a large venue at the former Trocadero site on Piccadilly, will open on October 13. The second, named The Benjamin Franklin, will open on the Strand on November 24. These additions will bring the total number of Wetherspoon pubs in central London to 39.

New Piccadilly Pub at Former Trocadero Site

The Piccadilly pub will occupy the building that once housed the iconic Trocadero indoor theme park, known for its video games and go-kart racing. The new venue will span over 3,600 square feet and provide seating for 280 customers. It will be open daily from 7am to midnight, offering the chain's signature low-priced pints and budget full English breakfasts.

JD Wetherspoon already operates more than 100 pubs across London, including 37 in central locations. The two new openings will increase that central count to 39 by the end of the year.

The Benjamin Franklin on the Strand

The second new pub, The Benjamin Franklin, will be located on the Strand, right next to Charing Cross station. The venue is expected to accommodate around 320 people across two floors. The project has been in development for some time, with JD Wetherspoon first applying for permission from Westminster City Council in 2024.

The application was initially denied due to concerns about noise and disturbance for local residents. However, it was eventually approved earlier this year, allowing the pub to proceed.

Part of 12 New UK Openings

These two pubs are among 12 new Wetherspoon locations opening across the UK this year. Another notable opening is a site in Heathrow Terminal 2. The expansion reflects the chain's continued growth despite challenges facing the hospitality sector.
