The Hero's Return, a new bar at Battersea Power Station, is set to open later this summer, bringing a menu by former St John chef Jonathan Woolway and a 40-seat outdoor terrace overlooking the River Thames. The venue occupies Unit 29 on Circus West, the space formerly held by No 29 Power Station West, which closed in early 2025.
Food and Drink from a St John Alumnus
The bar is operated by the same group behind popular pasta restaurant Bancone. Woolway's menu will showcase "Best of British" and "Best of London" dishes, including ox heart with chips and peppercorn sauce, cold roast lamb with celeriac remoulade and pickled walnut, and grilled mackerel with rainbow chard and horseradish.
Pink Floyd Inspiration
The bar's name and theme draw from the band Pink Floyd, who featured Battersea Power Station on the cover of their 1977 album Animals. The song "The Hero's Return" appears on their 1983 album The Final Cut. Rendered images show Pink Floyd-related artwork and an open fire in the interior.
Bancone Expansion
Bancone is also opening a new 140-seat pasta restaurant inside the revamped Imperial Hotel in Bloomsbury this summer, marking its sixth London location after Covent Garden, Kensington, Soho, Borough, and the City of London.
