Coupette, the award-winning French-inspired cocktail bar on Bethnal Green Road, has permanently closed its doors after nearly a decade of operation. The establishment served its final drinks on Sunday, June 28, marking the end of an era for one of London's most celebrated drinking spots.
A Decade of Innovation and Accolades
Opened in 2017, Coupette quickly gained a reputation for its innovative, artful cocktails. Signature drinks included a champagne piña colada, crème brûlée old fashioned, and a chocolate and red wine concoction, alongside a strong focus on calvados, the French apple brandy. The bar also offered live music and a menu highlighted by a luxurious cheese toastie.
Coupette's excellence was recognized by the industry. World's 50 Best Bars ranked it 18th in 2018 and 23rd in 2019. It also won 'cocktail of the year' at the Class Bar Awards in both 2018 and 2019. A Soho offshoot, Atelier Coupette, opened in 2023 but closed in April 2025.
Not the End for the Team
In a statement, the bar confirmed it is closing 'in its current home' and is 'preparing to move to a new location.' The exact location and opening date for the new venue have not yet been announced. The team behind Coupette has a track record of success, and fans are encouraged to watch for updates on their next venture.
