Stephen Graham, star of the Netflix megahit Adolescence, may have accidentally revealed that a new project is in the works following the show's triumphant sweep at the 2026 Bafta TV Awards. The series, which explores toxic masculinity and the manosphere through the lens of a 13-year-old boy arrested for murder, has become one of Netflix's most-watched English-language dramas globally.
Awards Success and Future Plans
At the Bafta winners' conference, Graham was asked about future projects. He responded, "Do you want me to... well, yeah, there's something in development right now which is... is it public?" before being quickly shut down by colleagues. While this neither confirms nor denies a second season, it suggests new content is brewing.
Previous Teases
In January, Graham stated that the next iteration was "somewhere in the deep recesses of my mind and Jack's mind, and we'll pull it out in three or four years." In 2025, production company Plan B confirmed early talks about a "next iteration" that would "widen the aperture, stay true to its DNA, and not be repetitive."
Bafta Wins
Adolescence won several major Baftas, including Best Limited Drama, Leading Actor for Graham, Supporting Actor for Owen Cooper, and Supporting Actress for Christine Tremarco. Graham's acceptance speech highlighted the importance of storytelling: "We have the opportunity to tell the human condition, and we have the obligation to tell beautiful stories."
Adolescence is available to stream on Netflix. The Bafta TV Awards 2026 can be caught up on BBC iPlayer.
