Slow Horses Season 6 Trailer: Olivia Cooke's Sid Returns
Slow Horses Season 6 Trailer: Olivia Cooke's Sid Returns

The first trailer for Slow Horses season six has confirmed that Olivia Cooke will finally reprise her role as Sid Baker, the character seemingly killed off in season one. The Apple TV+ series returns on September 16, and the footage reveals that the team of disgraced MI5 agents is under attack, with a kill list targeting current and former Slough House employees.

Olivia Cooke's Sid Returns from the Dead

Cooke's Sid, who was shot in the head and declared dead in the first season, appears alive and well in the trailer. Her return has been long anticipated by fans, especially after the show hinted that her death was faked. In the trailer, a weary River (Jack Lowden) climbs a set of stairs to find Sid, clad in a heavy coat, waiting at the top.

Gary Oldman's Jackson Lamb confronts Diana Taverner (Kristin Scott Thomas) in her garden, asking, 'Do you know anything about why my Slow Horses keep turning up dead?' The trailer shows grisly fates for some spies, including one shoved from a canal boat and another locked in a flaming shipping container. Joana Scanlan's Moira is sprayed with an unknown substance by figures in gas masks.

A Kill List and a Safe House

The trailer reveals that there is a list of all Slough House employees, past and present, which is essentially a kill list. As a result, the team goes to warn Louisa (Rosalind Eleazar), who quit MI5 in the previous season. The Slow Horses are sent to a safe house and told to stay off their phones, but Roddy immediately breaks the rule. Lamb declares it 'a bloodbath!'

River's father, played by Hugo Weaving, also appears in the trailer, suggesting he may be involved in the conspiracy. Lamb imparts his usual wisdom to Catherine (Saskia Reeves): 'We're spies. We've all faked our death at one time or another.'

Sid's Return Means Good Things for the Show

Sid Baker was a standout character in season one, known for her competence and dry wit. Taverner called her the 'most capable' of the Slow Horses. Her dynamic with River, which included hints of romance, was a highlight. With Louisa also returning, the season is set for intriguing interactions.

Cooke's return has been a topic of speculation since the show revealed that all evidence of Sid's existence had been scrubbed, suggesting she might not be dead. The sixth season, adapted from the sixth and seventh novels in Mick Herron's Slough House series, will premiere on September 16, with episodes releasing weekly until October 21.
