Rod Stewart cancels farewell tour after heart procedure

Rod Stewart has cancelled all upcoming dates on his farewell tour after undergoing a routine heart procedure. The 81-year-old singer had a coronary stent inserted successfully, and his representatives confirmed he needs four weeks off to recuperate.

Sudden cancellation and procedure

On 9 August, Stewart pulled a performance in Ohio at the last minute. Shortly after, he announced the cancellation of all remaining tour dates following the procedure. His representatives told Rolling Stone that the singer required a four-week recovery period.

In a message to fans via Instagram, Stewart said he was “already feeling better and very much on the mend” and thanked the medical staff who cared for him. He expressed deep disappointment at missing shows, writing: “I’m deeply disappointed to miss these shows and sorry to let my fans down, but I look forward to getting back on stage and having a good time with you all again soon.”

Recent health issues and tour plans

This is not the first health setback for Stewart this year. In June, he cancelled shows on doctors’ advice. Later that month, he paused a performance in Utah to use an oxygen tank after nearly fainting mid-show.

The One Last Time farewell tour, which began in 2024, includes a six-date Las Vegas residency and other dates across the US and Mexico. All those performances are now cancelled.

Musical collaborations and personal updates

In October, Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood revealed on Desert Island Discs that he and Stewart had been making music together, hinting at a potential reunion of the Faces. The band formed from the Small Faces after Steve Marriott left. Wood joined Stewart on stage at Glastonbury last year for the legends slot, where Stewart’s fitness regime, including underwater swimming recommended by Frank Sinatra, was highlighted.

Stewart, a father of eight, recently welcomed his sixth grandchild. Fans will have to wait for his return to the stage as he recovers from the procedure.
