Atomic Kitten singer Kerry Katona has opened up about a particularly awkward moment involving her ex-husband Brian McFadden's former wife, Vogue Williams, as the latter prepares for her stint in the I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! jungle.
The Uncomfortable School Run Encounter
In her regular column for OK! magazine, the 45-year-old pop star reflected on her previous interaction with Williams, who married McFadden in 2012 before their divorce was finalised in 2017. Katona described how Williams would wave from the car during school pick-ups but never made the effort to properly introduce herself.
"I remember her waving at me from the car when Brian picked up the kids," Katona revealed. "She never made any particular effort to come and say hi to me - which I think is important as a stepmum." The singer emphasised that despite the distant waving, she never actually properly met the presenter and model.
Complex Relationship History
The background to this uncomfortable dynamic stretches back decades. Kerry Katona and Brian McFadden, both now 45, began their relationship in the early 2000s, marrying in 2002 during the height of their pop careers. Their union produced two daughters - Molly Marie, born in August 2001, and Lilly Sue, who arrived on February 3, 2003.
However, the marriage collapsed in 2004 after Katona discovered McFadden had cheated on her during his stag do. She later revealed on Paul Brunson's We Need to Talk podcast that the Westlife star had paid a lap dancer £15,000 to sign an NDA, though the woman still went to the papers with her story.
"It was never the same after that with me and Brian," Katona admitted, explaining she only learned about the infidelity after their wedding.
Moving On From Past Hurts
Despite the history, Katona appears to have moved past any lingering resentment. Speaking about Williams' current jungle adventure, she said: "I'm not bothered if she talks about Brian round the campfire - we were together twenty years ago, it's old news."
Both women have experienced significant relationship developments since their connections to McFadden. Katona has been through two further marriages - to Mark Croft from 2007-2011, with whom she had children Heidi and Max, and to George Kay from 2014 until their separation in 2015. Kay died from an overdose in 2019. She's now in a relationship with Paolo Margaglione, whom she met on Celebs Go Dating.
Meanwhile, Vogue Williams found lasting love with Made In Chelsea star Spencer Matthews in 2018 after meeting on The Jump. The couple now share three children: Theodore, six, Gigi, four, and Otto, two.
Williams recently addressed speculation about marital problems on her My Therapist Ghosted Me podcast, dismissing rumours that she and Matthews were "headed for a breakup" because of time spent apart during her jungle stint.
Matthews has since shared an emotional Instagram tribute to his wife, writing: "It's wild how much you can miss someone you've spoken to every single day for years." He described this period as "the longest we've gone without talking since we've been married" and said he's "counting down the days" until her return from the Australian jungle.
As for Brian McFadden, he moved on from his marriage to Williams and is now married to PE teacher and former athlete Danielle Parkinson, with whom he shares daughter Ruby.
