Former The Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr has had his gig at London's OVO Arena Wembley cancelled with "great regret", the venue announced. The 62-year-old musician was scheduled to perform on October 24, 2026, in support of his first solo studio album in four years, The Age Of Everything, set for release on October 2.
Venue Statement and Refund Process
A statement from OVO Arena Wembley read: "It is with great regret that we must inform you that the forthcoming Johnny Marr show at OVO Arena Wembley, London, scheduled for October 24 2026, will now be rescheduled. We understand that many of you will have made plans to attend, and we are truly sorry for the disappointment and inconvenience this news may cause. A new date has not yet been confirmed. However, we are working to provide an update as soon as possible, and you will be notified immediately once a rescheduled date is announced."
The venue confirmed that all tickets would be automatically refunded to the original point of purchase, processed back to the original method of payment, with no further action required by ticket holders. The statement added: "We would like to sincerely thank you for your understanding and continued support, and we hope to welcome you back to the show in the future." No reason for the postponement has been given.
Johnny Marr's Career and Legacy
With The Smiths, completed by singer Morrissey, bass player Andy Rourke, and drummer Mike Joyce, Marr was a pioneer of British indie rock in the 1980s. The band released four critically acclaimed studio albums: The Smiths (1984), Meat Is Murder (1985), The Queen Is Dead (1986), and Strangeways, Here We Come (1987), before disbanding in 1987. They achieved three UK top 10 singles and are best known for songs such as "This Charming Man," "Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now," and "How Soon Is Now?"
Marr launched his solo career with the 2013 album The Messenger, with all his solo albums charting in the UK top 10. He collaborated with pop star Billie Eilish and composer Hans Zimmer in 2020 on the James Bond theme song "No Time To Die." Marr has also been a member of bands including The The, The Cribs, and Modest Mouse.
