Immersive Fall 2 Screening: Stand or Be Kicked Out
Fall 2 Screening: Stand or Be Kicked Out

Horror fans attending special screenings of the upcoming survival thriller Fall 2: Deadpoint will be required to stand on elevated platforms for the entire film, with organizers warning that anyone who steps off will be kicked out. The two invite-only screenings, scheduled for August 22 in Los Angeles, are designed to immerse viewers in the film's terrifying heights and test their balance and endurance.

Extreme Cinema Stunt Challenges Audiences

The stunt is part of a promotional campaign for the sequel, which hits theaters next month. Attendees will stand on a specially constructed ledge, recreating the precarious situations faced by the film's characters. Organizers say the experience taps into the fear of heights, as well as the exposure, vulnerability, and survival themes central to Fall 2: Deadpoint. The rule is blunt: get off the ledge, and your screening is over.

This is not the first extreme cinema stunt from the studio, which previously made audiences walk on treadmills during screenings of The Long Walk. Fall 2: Deadpoint lends itself even more naturally to the concept, though traditional moviegoers who prefer popcorn and reclining seats will still have that option when the film opens in cinemas.

Plot and Cast of Fall 2: Deadpoint

The sequel follows the 2022 surprise hit Fall, which centered on two women stranded atop a 2,000-foot television tower. This time, the action moves to Thailand with a new set of characters and another ill-advised climb to a great height. After losing her fearless sister Hunter, Jax embarks on a dangerous climbing expedition with Hunter's old friend to honor her memory. The pair travel to Mount Kwan, where they attempt to cross a treacherous series of planks high above the ground. Naturally, things go spectacularly wrong: a rockslide leaves them stranded thousands of feet in the air, battling vertigo, exposure, and increasingly impossible odds.

The official synopsis promises 'vertigo-inducing sequences, dark truths, and cruel twists' as Jax confronts her fears while fighting for survival and closure. Harriet Slater (Tarot, Belgravia: The Next Chapter) leads the cast as Jax, with Arsema Thomas (Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story) as her climbing companion, and Tom Brittney (Grantchester) also starring.

Behind the Scenes and Release Details

The film is directed by twin filmmakers Michael and Peter Spierig, known for Predestination, Winchester, and Jigsaw. The screenplay comes from Scott Mann and Jonathan Frank, who also wrote the original Fall, with Mann having directed the first movie. The original was an unexpected success in 2022, grossing around $18 million (£13.4 million) worldwide before finding an even larger audience on streaming. Its popularity sparked plans for two follow-ups, first revealed in 2023. Fall 2: Deadpoint is scheduled for release in cinemas on September 2.
