Brian Packham (Peter Gunn) is set for a surprising romantic encounter in Coronation Street, as he spends the night with Maggie Driscoll (Pauline McLynn), the woman who killed her husband. The unexpected pairing comes as Brian, who lives a simple life in Weatherfield, seeks a bit of fun, according to Metro.
Brian's Quiet Life Takes a Turn
Brian's world used to be busy as a local teacher, but in 2018 he was relentlessly bullied by deputy headteacher Phil, leading him to leave the industry and become the owner of The Kabin. His most recent love interest was Julie Carp (Katy Cavanagh), whom he reconnected with after her return to Weatherfield last year, but their relationship ended when Julie died following her cancer diagnosis.
Next week, in the ITV soap, Brian's search for fun becomes apparent. In the pub, Ben Driscoll (Aaron McCusker) and Ollie Driscoll (Raphael Akuwudike) are mid-conversation when a dishevelled Brian descends the stairs, followed by Maggie. Her family is shocked to discover she's spent the night with him.
Maggie's Underwhelming Night
Clearly seeking more, Brian quizzes Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley) on how to woo Maggie. Later, Eva tells Maggie she's happy for her, but Maggie reveals her night was underwhelming and won't be repeated, unaware that Brian is arriving with flowers.
Towards the end of the week, Glenda Shuttleworth (Jodie Pregner) notices Maggie avoiding Brian. It seems things are over before they've really begun, but given that Maggie pushed her husband down the stairs, resulting in his death, the universe may be doing Brian a favour.
