Coronation Street: Jodie Ramsey Exposed as Troll in Shocking Twist
Coronation Street: Jodie Exposed as Troll in Shocking Twist

One evil scheme foiled on Coronation Street – that is bad luck. But two evil schemes foiled? Do better, Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances-Brown). It was barely a month ago when Jodie was sent packing from the Platts for trying to seduce her sister Shona’s (Julia Goulding) husband David Platt (Jack P Shepherd). Fortunately, she has found a brand new sucker in Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard). Still reeling from the realisation that his girlfriend Megan was sexually abusing one of his students, Will Driscoll (Lucas Hodgson-Wale), the tortured Headmaster was temporarily suspended from Weatherfield High school after losing his cool with schoolgirl Hope Stape (Isabella Flanagan) when she made a snide remark about his relationship with the predator.

As far as Ken Barlow (William Roache) and the rest of Daniel’s family are concerned, he is taking a much needed break in the Lake District. The truth is, Daniel is drinking heavily and spiralling into depression in his flat, while Ken looks after his son Bertie. When Jodie ‘let herself in to the flat’, she was willing to keep Daniel’s secret – in return for somewhere to kip. For a while it seemed to work, and we wondered if sparks were going to fly between the unlikely pair. But when Daniel decided it was time for Bertie to come home, he told Jodie that she needed to find somewhere else to live.

What is a girl to do? Easy. Create an online troll called ‘Truthteller’ to smear Daniel’s reputation by posting fake news implying that he knew about Megan’s abuse the whole time. Jodie Ramsay – Weatherfield’s answer to Regina George. But Jodie’s vicious misinformation spirals out of control when Daniel is harassed on the street in tomorrow’s episode by masked teenage hooligans, who throw paint on him and film his angry reaction.

With Daniel facing violence and Bernie facing bullying at school, Jodie will back down from her Truthteller persona for a bit and delete all their posts. But it is too little too late, as Daniel is set to discover Jodie’s identity in upcoming scenes of Coronation Street. While an anxious Daniel prepares for his return to work, Bertie gives him a sweet gift - a ‘World’s Best Teacher’ mug. Aww. However, the mug does not last long at school when Lily Platt (Grace Ashcroft Gardner) purposely bumps into the disgraced head, smashing his mug. Utterly devastated, Daniel breaks down much to the amusement of Jake Windass (Bobby Bradshaw), who records it on his phone. Spiralling out of control, Daniel tries to get drunk at the Rovers but is barred from being served. And the rancid cherry on top of Daniel’s day from hell? Spotting Megan in the precinct. Furious, he unleashes all his fury and bellows at his predatory ex for ruining his life.

Just as Daniel is at an all time low, he checks his laptop for further vile posts and Jodie makes a throw away remark… which makes Daniel realise with horror that she is the troll. In a recent chat, actor Rob Mallard, who plays Daniel, teased the consequences of Jodie’s betrayal. ‘He feels it is another moment of complete betrayal. He should never have trusted her to begin with, and he knew he should not have trusted her. But I think there was that kind of vague hope where you think, well, what are the chances that she is another wrong ‘un, of all the bad things that have just happened to me, what are the chances that she is also going to be bad?’ ‘I think this will be the endpoint of his trust in women. He has been betrayed so many times now, ever since his mum left him. Bar Sinead (Katie McGlynn) he has not made the best choices. So Jodie should watch out.’ Looks like Jodie cannot talk her way out of trouble this time.
