Aespa Eye Collaborations with UK Artists
K-pop girl group aespa, comprised of members Karina, Giselle, Winter, and Ningning, have expressed interest in collaborating with British artists Olivia Dean and PinkPantheress. In an interview, Karina named Olivia Dean as a dream collaborator, stating: 'I really love her voice, her music, and her whole vibe, so it would be really special to work with her one day.' Winter added: 'I'd love to work with PinkPantheress someday. I really admire her signature sound and the atmosphere she creates in her music. I think bringing her style together with aespa's could lead to something really fresh and exciting.'
New Album 'Lemonade' Blends Genres
Since their debut in 2020, aespa have broken records, including the highest number of views in 24 hours for a K-pop group's debut video and becoming the third K-pop girl group to perform at Coachella. Their latest album, Lemonade, features the hit single of the same name, which charted at number one in South Korea and broke the top 10 of the Billboard charts. The album mixes hyperpop, EDM, and rock. Karina explained: 'When people hear the word lemonade they usually think of something sweet, tangy, and refreshing. But with this album, we wanted to put aespa's own spin on that image by adding something sharper, bolder, and more electrifying.' Giselle added: 'The title track is inspired by the saying, “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.” It's about taking difficult moments and turning them into new energy and moving forward with confidence.'
Collaboration with G-Dragon and Unique Style
The album also features a collaboration with K-pop superstar G-Dragon, who raps the hook on the track 'WDA (Whole Different Animal).' Ningning noted: 'He has a way of making every line unmistakably his, and it reminded us how important it is to have a strong artistic identity.' Aespa are known for their edgy style and virtual avatars in the realm KWANGYA. Winter switched to a short tousled cut for the 'Whiplash' video, while Giselle embodied a scorpio in 'The Creature' teaser, saying: 'Since I'm a Scorpio, it felt especially personal and memorable to me.'
World Tour SYNK : COMPLÆXITY Announced
Aespa have announced their world tour SYNK : COMPLÆXITY, kicking off in August 2026 and spanning 26 dates over 23 cities, including January 2027 shows in Manchester and London. Ningning said: 'I think this tour will be the best way for our fans to fully experience aespa's music and universe on stage.' The group will also perform at Lollapalooza Chicago in August 2026, where they plan to debut brand new performances. Giselle teased: 'To give you a little spoiler – we'll be debuting brand new performances that we've never shown anywhere before.'
K-Pop's Global Rise and Girl Power
Giselle reflected on K-pop's global impact: 'I think people around the world are now seeing K-pop as more than just music. They're interested in the performances, fashion, visuals, content and the culture around it as well.' Winter added: 'It also means K-pop artists have more opportunities to perform on different stages and meet new audiences.' Amid the rise of other girl groups like BLACKPINK and NewJeans, Karina emphasized authenticity: 'Rather than looking to one particular group, I find inspiration in how different artists stay true to their own sound, concepts, and energy. It reminds us how important it is to keep evolving while staying authentic to who we are.'
