The Bombay Swanley, a family-run Indian restaurant in Kent, has been named Restaurant of the Year at the Curry Life Awards 2026, adding to a growing list of honours since opening in April 2025.
The award was presented on October 4, just over a year after the venue was recognised in the newcomer category at the same ceremony. The restaurant has now collected four awards in total, including a "Newcomer of the Year" win at the Asian Restaurant and Takeaway Awards (ARTA) 2025 and a place among the UK Top 100 Asian Restaurant Awards in May.
Owners say hard work validated by awards
Kobir Hussain, co-owner of The Bombay Swanley, said of the latest win: "We're delighted. Everything we set out to achieve is coming together." He added: "To open a restaurant and win an award, and this year another, means so much to us. It shows that all the hard work has been worth it, and that the awards have truly validated what we have built."
Hussain noted that last year's recognition brought valuable exposure and helped establish the restaurant as a top dining destination in Kent, only months after it first launched.
Sister restaurant and further recognition
The Bombay Swanley is the sister restaurant of the long-running Orpington curry house of the same name, with both run by brothers Shahjahan Miah, MJ Miah, and Kobir Hussain. Both venues have collected numerous awards over time, and the Swanley branch has now been shortlisted for the Asian Curry Awards 2026, organised by the Asian Catering Federation (ACF).
The restaurant holds an average rating of 4.9 stars on Google from more than 2,600 reviews, with many customers praising the "outstanding" food and "exceptional" service.
Customer feedback highlights quality
Mark, a long-standing customer of The Bombay Swanley, said: "Over the years we have eaten in many Indian/Bangladesh restaurants locally and across the UK, and I can honestly say this is the best food we have eaten, with the chefs going over and above compared to other Bangladesh restaurants." He added: "The very friendly, helpful and welcoming staff make every meal a pleasure, from the moment we arrive."
The restaurant continues to build on its early success, with the Asian Curry Awards 2026 shortlisting offering another opportunity for recognition.
