Swanley's The Bombay Named Finalist at Asian Curry Awards

The Bombay, a restaurant in Swanley, has been named a finalist in this year's Asian Curry Awards, an honour its owner says reflects the dedication of the entire team. The restaurant is one of 213 establishments shortlisted for the awards, often called the "Curry Oscars," which recognise excellence across the UK's Asian and Oriental dining sector.

The Bombay is one of 16 restaurants in south east London to make the shortlist, joining venues such as Babur in Forest Hill and iNaga in Bromley. This recognition arrives less than two years after The Bombay opened its doors in Swanley in 2025, adding to a growing list of achievements.

A Rapid Rise in the Curry Scene

The shortlisting follows a notable win for the restaurant, which was named Best Indian Restaurant in the Country at the Curry Life Awards 2026. Owner Shah described the national recognition as a milestone for the business, which has quickly established itself in the local dining market.

"We are incredibly proud and honoured to be recognised on the national list of Britain's Best Curry Houses," Shah said. "This achievement means so much to us, as it reflects the passion, dedication and hard work that our entire team puts in every single day."

Shah credited the restaurant's chefs and front-of-house staff for their contributions to the honour. "From our chefs creating dishes with care and consistency to our front-of-house team making every guest feel welcome, this recognition belongs to every member of our team," he added.

A Fresh Approach to Indian Dining

The Bombay opened in Swanley in 2025 with what its owners describe as a fresh and modern approach to Indian dining. The menu blends traditional Indian flavours with contemporary presentation, featuring classic favourites alongside signature dishes such as Rumjhum-style chicken and lamb, Goan-style coconut curries, Hyderabadi specialities, Najakat dishes and the popular Akbari lamb shank.

According to the restaurant, dishes are prepared using quality ingredients, freshly ground spices and traditional cooking techniques, all with a modern touch. Shah said the team remains focused on building on its success. "Our ambition is to continue raising the bar for Indian dining, bringing exceptional food, outstanding service and memorable experiences to every guest who walks through our doors," he said.

Awards Ceremony Set for November

The winners of the Asian Curry Awards will be announced at a gala ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel in Mayfair, London, on Sunday, November 15. The event will bring together finalists from across the country to celebrate the best in Asian and Oriental cuisine.

Shah also expressed gratitude to the restaurant's customers, saying, "We would also like to thank our loyal customers for their continued support, which inspires us to keep raising our standards and delivering the very best experience."
