The cult plant-based sandwich shop Coven of Wiches has reopened in Brixton's Market Row, following the closure of its Walthamstow location in July this year. The new outpost opened on August 19, bringing its signature oversized toasties, baguettes and wraps to south London.
From Walthamstow to Brixton
Originally based in northeast London, Coven of Wiches built a loyal following among vegans and meat eaters alike for its generously filled sandwiches. The Walthamstow shop closed in July as the business relocated south of the river. The Brixton branch is located at 14D Market Row.
The menu features standout items such as The Reuben, made with house 'vastrami' on sourdough rye; the A.G.A.T.H.A, an aubergine schnitzel with hot raclette; and the Vish Finger Beauty, a 'fish' finger wrap with shoestring fries. The menu changes weekly, with updates posted on the shop's Instagram page.
Drinks and Partnerships
Beyond sandwiches, Coven of Wiches serves craft beers, frozen margaritas, and specialty pickleback or kimchiback shots. The shop has also partnered with Gravity Well Brewing to create 'Wiccan Liquor', a specialty vegan pale ale.
Opening Hours and Location
Coven of Wiches is open from Wednesdays to Fridays, 12pm-3pm and 5pm-10pm; Saturdays 12pm-10pm; and Sundays 11am-6pm. The shop is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
For those seeking more plant-based dining options, London's vegan restaurant scene continues to expand, with several new openings expected throughout the city in the coming months.
