Caravan, the popular restaurant chain, will open its largest-ever venue at the Southbank Centre in November. The flagship site will cover 8,500 square feet across two floors and an outdoor terrace, making it the brand's 10th restaurant and its biggest opening to date.
Flagship Venue Features Multiple Dining Spaces and Bars
The new Caravan Southbank will include three all-day dining spaces, two bars, a mezzanine cocktail and listening bar with events space, an open kitchen, and a private dining room overlooking the Hayward Gallery. The three dining areas will be housed within a recreation of two railway arches, reflecting the chain's industrial design aesthetic.
In addition to the main restaurant, the site will host The Klink, a street-facing venue offering cocktails, takeaway coffee, and a limited menu. The Klink is scheduled to open in January 2027.
Caravan Co-Founder and Southbank Centre Executives Comment
Laura Harper-Hinton, Caravan's co-founder and chief executive, said: 'Caravan Southbank is a special moment for us. It's our 10th restaurant and our biggest opening to date, and we couldn't think of a more iconic place to reach that milestone.'
She added: 'We love the Southbank Centre – it's one of London's most exciting destinations, bringing together food, culture and creativity in a way that feels completely unique. We've designed the restaurant to reflect that energy – a space where people can drop in for a morning coffee, settle in for breakfast, brunch and lunch, or spend the evening over cocktails and dinner. The space also gives us room to try new things, like our new takeaway coffee and cocktail bar, the Klink.'
Rebecca Brindle, the Southbank Centre's head of commercial, said: 'We are delighted to welcome Caravan to the Southbank Centre. Their all-day approach to food, coffee and hospitality makes them a natural fit for our unique cultural setting and the wide range of visitors who come here throughout the day. Caravan will bring fresh energy to one of our most prominent restaurant spaces, creating a vibrant new destination that complements our world-class arts and cultural programme.'
Chain's Growth Since 2010 Exmouth Market Launch
Caravan first opened on Exmouth Market in 2010 and has since expanded, including its first site outside London in Manchester in 2024. The Southbank opening marks a significant milestone for the brand, which continues to grow its presence across the UK.
The new restaurant is expected to serve as a destination for both local visitors and tourists, with its all-day dining model and cultural setting at the Southbank Centre. The venue's opening in November will add to the area's existing food and drink offerings, while The Klink will provide a more casual option for those seeking coffee or cocktails on the go.
