Spencer Matthews & Vogue Williams: Inside Their Romance & Wedding That Nearly Didn't Happen
Vogue Williams & Spencer Matthews: Inside Their Relationship

Speculation surrounding the marriage of TV personalities Spencer Matthews and Vogue Williams has intensified in recent weeks, fuelled by their separate professional ventures and physical distance.

Rumours Swirl Amid Separate Projects

Spencer Matthews, 37, embarked on an extreme athletic challenge called Project Se7en on November 13, travelling to Cape Town to begin seven triathlons across seven continents in 23 days. His mission concludes on December 6.

Meanwhile, Vogue Williams, 40, is currently a contestant on the hit ITV show I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!, which finishes on December 7. This scheduling meant Spencer was not present to greet Vogue as she exited the jungle at the end of the famous bridge in the episode airing on December 2.

Further fanning the flames of gossip, reports emerged that the pair have split their business ventures. Spencer also parted ways with his long-time agent, signing with the prominent YMU Group, which manages stars like Ant and Dec, Claudia Winkleman, and Davina McCall.

Vogue directly addressed the split rumours on her podcast, My Therapist Ghosted Me, expressing frustration to co-host Joanne McNally. "But I'm like, can we not spend, like, any time apart?" she said. "Do we have to be sewn together now to show that we're a united front."

From The Jump to 'I Do': A Rocky Road to Romance

The couple first met in early 2017 while training for Channel 4's winter sports reality series, The Jump. Contrary to rumours of instant chemistry, their relationship began platonically.

"He kept ringing me after we'd done The Jump together and I was like, 'This guy is so strange'," Vogue recalled to Evoke. "He'd call me and say he was out and about in Chelsea and I'd be like, 'I live in East London, there's no way I'm travelling 45 minutes to hang out with you.' We were just really good pals for ages."

Vogue even admitted to The Sun she initially thought Spencer was a "sociopath". However, after spending more time together in Austria and socially, their friendship deepened into romance. Spencer proposed in January 2018 and they married later that same year.

The Wedding That Nearly Wasn't

Their path to the altar was fraught with doubt. Spencer had a well-known reputation for a hard-partying lifestyle, which Vogue wanted no part of. A significant turning point was Spencer's decision to become sober for his family.

"When we first started dating, I was a bad alcoholic," Spencer told HeatWorld. "When I met Vogue and we started our relationship, and when she got pregnant, it was a bit of a wake-up call for me... I went sober."

Vogue's early hesitation meant the relationship almost ended before it truly began, making their 2018 wedding a celebration that very nearly didn't happen.

Family Life Today

Today, Spencer and Vogue are parents to three children. They welcomed a son in September 2018, a daughter in 2020, and a second son in April 2022.

While Vogue has previously stated that three children felt like "enough," she has recently hinted that the door may not be closed on expanding their family further. She told The Sunday Times, "I have all of my baby stuff stored because I don't know what I'm doing there with babies. It's funny, because I wouldn't think it's mad to have four."

Despite the current rumours, the couple's history shows a relationship built on a foundation of friendship, significant personal change, and a shared commitment to their young family.
