Strictly star Jenny Thomas makes EastEnders cameo as Fabia

Jenny Thomas, the salsa and Charleston choreographer from Strictly Come Dancing, has made a cameo appearance on EastEnders as dance instructor Fabia. The scenes aired in two episodes this week, just days before fellow Strictly star La Voix is set to appear on the BBC soap.

Fabia's role in the salsa class

In the episodes, Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) organised a sober salsa class at the community centre. Initially, few residents attended until Max Branning (Jake Wood) persuaded several Square favourites to join. Dance instructor Fabia, played by Thomas, then led the class. Thomas confirmed her role on social media, writing: 'Yes I was actually on EastEnders this week! Had an absolute blast playing Fabia the salsa instructor. (No lines, but “on screen specialist”) Thank you to @bbceastenders for the opportunity. Loved every minute.'

Strictly connections

Both Kellie Bright and Jake Wood are former Strictly contestants, having competed in 2015 and 2014 respectively. Bright reached the final and achieved two perfect scores, while Wood was eliminated in the semi-final. Thomas choreographed many of their routines, including Wood's salsa and Bright's Star Wars-themed Movie Week Charleston.

Upcoming crossover

Next week, EastEnders will feature La Voix, who competed on Strictly last year, appearing as herself during Pride celebrations. This continues the crossover trend between the two BBC shows.

EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One or streams from 6am on BBC iPlayer.
