The film, which holds an 83% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, follows Ben and Louise, a couple who befriend another family while on holiday in Italy and later accept an invitation to their home—a decision that leads to terrifying consequences.

Critics have voiced strong opinions about the remake, which is based on a 2022 Danish-Dutch original of the same name. David Renshaw of Fader wrote: 'Speak No Evil is a remake of a film made just two years ago, and threatens to overshadow a genuinely compelling work.' Bleeding Cool called the remake a 'toothless' retread that fails to capture the original's fear factor. Metro's entertainment editor Alicia Adejobi expressed disappointment: 'It's disappointing that Hollywood can't allow this relatively unsung Danish gem to have the space to shine and earn props for its script writing, cinematography and acting.'
Defenders Praise Performances and Cultural Nuance
Despite the backlash, the remake has its supporters. Katherine McLaughlin of SciFiNow noted: 'Impressive performances and the specificity in the approach to culture and class sets this remake apart from the original.' Even noted critic Mark Kermode praised the film, saying: 'As a fan of the original, I really think this did it justice and added a new twist and made its own film.'
