Emmerdale star Amy Walsh has shared the joyful news that she and her husband, EastEnders actor Toby-Alexander Smith, are expecting a baby girl. The couple announced the gender of their second child in a heartwarming Instagram post on December 26, 2025.

A Pink Smoke Surprise

The actress, best known for playing Tracy Shankley in the ITV soap, posted a creative video to mark the occasion. The clip first showed her three-year-old daughter, Bonnie-Mae, on a staircase with her cousins, pondering if she would remain the only girl in the family.

The scene then shifted to a poolside gathering where the answer was revealed in spectacular fashion. A kicked football exploded into a cloud of pink smoke, with the words ‘Girl power coming in 2026’ appearing on screen. Amy captioned the elated family video: ‘New addition to the family incoming!’

Soap Co-Stars Flood with Congratulations

The announcement prompted an immediate and delighted response from the couple's colleagues in the soap world. Natalie Ann Jamieson, who plays Amy Wyatt in Emmerdale, commented: ‘Can not waitttttt’.

Fellow Emmerdale cast members Michelle Hardwick and Bradley Riches left pink and white love heart emojis. From the EastEnders camp, Shona McGarty, famed for her role as Whitney Dean, wrote: ‘OMG YAAAAAYYYY !!! Congratulations’.

A Soap Romance Blossomed from Strictly

Amy and Toby, who plays the villainous Gray Atkins, tied the knot in 2023. Their romance began three years earlier when they met in the audience of Strictly Come Dancing in 2020.

Amy was there supporting her Emmerdale co-star Kelvin Fletcher, who went on to win the series with Oti Mabuse. Toby was present to cheer on his EastEnders colleague, Emma Barton, who plays Honey Mitchell.

The couple welcomed their first child, daughter Bonnie-Mae, in January 2021, and are soon set to celebrate her fourth birthday. Amy first announced her current pregnancy in September 2024, expressing to OK! magazine how ‘lucky’ they felt, as she had initially thought she ‘might struggle with fertility.’

However, she revealed the pregnancy ‘happened quite easily’ when planned, leaving her ‘gobsmacked.’ She said at the time: ‘We’re so excited. It feels as though the way everything happened was meant to be.’ Judging by their latest joyful reveal, the excitement for their new daughter is stronger than ever.
