Manville, Maxwell Martin Lead West End 'August: Osage County'

Lesley Manville and Anna Maxwell Martin will lead the first ever West End production of Tracy Letts' acclaimed drama 'August: Osage County', set to run at the Noël Coward Theatre from January 18 to April 10, 2027.

A Landmark Production

This marks the first time the play will originate in the UK, as previous London productions were transfers of the American premiere. The 2008 National Theatre run, which featured the original US cast, lasted only a few months. The play, known for its enormous cast and three-and-a-half-hour runtime, has been adapted into a 2013 film starring Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, Ewan McGregor, and Benedict Cumberbatch.

Star-Studded Cast

Manville will take on the role of toxic matriarch Violet Weston, while Maxwell Martin plays Barbara Fordham, Violet's controlling eldest daughter. According to the announcement, further casting is expected to include many other notable roles, promising a treat for audiences.

'August: Osage County' is widely regarded as one of the greatest 'dinner party plays' of the 2000s, following the Weston family as they tear each other apart over several eventful weeks. The production is produced by Second Half Productions.
