Lewis Burton's Life Now: New Flack Documentary Sparks Response
Lewis Burton responds to Caroline Flack documentary

Nearly six years after the tragic death of television presenter Caroline Flack, a powerful new documentary is revisiting the events that led to her passing. Caroline Flack: Search for the Truth, released this week on Disney Plus, meticulously examines the final twenty-four hours of the Love Island host's life.

A Life Cut Short

In February 2020, Caroline Flack died by suicide at the age of 40. This devastating outcome came shortly after she learned that prosecutors would be pursuing an assault charge against her. The charge stemmed from an incident two months prior, in December 2019, where Flack struck her then-boyfriend, Lewis Burton, with a phone while he slept after she discovered messages from another woman.

The new two-part film follows Flack's mother, Christine, as she personally investigates the circumstances surrounding her daughter's death. 'I had to know what really happened to my vivacious daughter,' Christine has explained, highlighting her quest for answers.

Lewis Burton's New Chapter

So, where is Lewis Burton now? The 32-year-old former professional tennis player has transitioned into a new career as a luxury travel and hospitality entrepreneur. He is the founder of a business called Twenty3Club, which specialises in curating exclusive VIP travel experiences.

Burton's personal life has also moved forward significantly. Just five months after Flack's death in July 2020, he confirmed his relationship with Lottie Tomlinson, a 25-year-old social media influencer and the younger sister of One Direction's Louis Tomlinson. The couple, who met when Lottie was 21 and Lewis was 28, are thought to have bonded over shared experiences of grief.

Their relationship has since blossomed into a family. In February 2022, they announced they were expecting their first child, and their son, Lucky Burton, was born on August 18 of that year. The couple took their commitment further in November 2023 when Burton proposed in a romantic home setting, surrounded by rose petals and candles, with their young son present. Earlier this year, in January, they welcomed their second child, a daughter named Flossie Grace Burton.

Responding to the Documentary

The release of Caroline Flack: Search for the Truth has prompted a strong reaction from Burton. Despite not participating in the documentary—the producers stated he was approached several times but declined—Burton took to social media to address its content.

On Wednesday night, he shared a statement on Instagram, writing: 'Out of respect, I've chosen to remain silent. However, the false accusations and online abuse directed toward me and my family has gone too far.'

He continued, 'I had hoped it would never come to this, but now I have no choice but to clarify the situation and share the truth.' As of now, Burton has not elaborated on what these 'false accusations' are or how he plans to present his version of events.

This stands in contrast to his previous public tributes to Flack. In the immediate aftermath of her death, he posted an emotional message, calling her his 'angel' and vowing to be her 'voice.' A month later, he shared another post expressing his ongoing grief, and he marked the one-year anniversary of her death with a simple, poignant tribute.

As the documentary begins streaming, it reignites public conversation about the pressures Flack faced and the complex legacy she left behind, while those who knew her continue to navigate their lives in the shadow of her loss.
