Coronation Street's Daniel Brocklebank Exits After 11 Years as Vicar Billy
Coronation Street star films final scenes after 11 years

After more than a decade on Britain's most famous street, Daniel Brocklebank has filmed his final scenes as Coronation Street's beloved vicar Billy Mayhew, marking the end of an era for the ITV soap.

Emotional farewell to Weatherfield

The actor confirmed his departure in an emotional Instagram post shared on November 19, 2025, featuring a poignant photograph from the set. Brocklebank wrote: 'That's it. Last scene filmed. Bye bye @coronationstreet. Bye bye Billy. The last 11 years have gone by in a blink. I've adored every moment of being part of this special family.'

His message continued with heartfelt gratitude: 'I can't thank @itv and all at Corrie enough. It's been a ride. I adore you all.' This definitive announcement concludes his 11-year tenure playing the local vicar, a character who first arrived on the cobbles in 2014.

A quarter of his life on the cobbles

Reflecting on his time with the programme, Brocklebank previously revealed the significance of his Corrie years: 'I have been working on Corrie for a quarter of my life. I have adored every minute I have been in that building and have never not looked forward to going into work.'

The actor expressed mixed emotions about his departure, stating: 'I love everyone who works on this show and whilst I am sad to be going, I am equally excited to see what the future holds.'

In a separate Instagram post, Brocklebank shared a tearful picture with co-star Harriet Bibby, who plays his on-screen adoptive daughter Summer Spellman. He penned: 'My final day today working with this beautiful human. I've loved playing her TV dad. What an honour it has been.'

Dramatic exit storyline ahead

Show producer Kate Brooks confirmed that Billy will be involved in a major storyline before his exit. 'Billy will be involved in a major storyline over the coming months, which will see him tested in ways he never imagined, as friendships and his faith are pushed to the limit,' she revealed.

Brooks paid tribute to the departing actor: 'We're incredibly sad to bid farewell to Dan, who has been fantastic in some of Corrie's biggest storylines over the past few years, most notably Paul's MND. An actor of immeasurable talent and skill, and an absolute treasure behind the scenes – he will be missed by all of us on the cobbles.'

Rumours suggest Billy could be killed off in a dramatic plot involving Theo Silverton (James Cartwright), the abusive boyfriend of Todd Grimshaw. The storyline has been building tension, with Theo repeatedly expressing his dislike for Billy and his friendship with Todd.

Fans are speculating whether Theo might take extreme measures to remove Billy from Todd's life permanently, potentially leading to a violent confrontation. With Brocklebank having already filmed his final scenes, viewers won't have long to wait to discover Billy's ultimate fate.

The actor's co-stars flooded his social media with emotional messages. Gareth Pierce, who plays Todd Grimshaw, commented: 'Love you both the most', while Jane Hazlegrove (Bernie Winter) wrote: 'Our Billy and little Summer! Thank you Dan for being THE kindest!! You know! What a ride eh darling!'

Harriet Bibby added her own touching tribute: 'What an adventure we've had! I love you loads.'

As Weatherfield prepares to say goodbye to one of its most enduring characters, fans can expect an emotional and dramatic send-off for the vicar who has been at the heart of some of Coronation Street's most powerful storylines for over a decade.
