Bridget Jones Statue Unveiled in Leicester Square for 25th Anniversary
Bridget Jones Statue Joins Leicester Square Film Trail

London's Cinematic Heart Gains a New Icon

The heart of London's West End has welcomed a charming new resident. A bronze statue of the beloved romantic comedy heroine, Bridget Jones, was officially unveiled in Leicester Square on November 17, 2025. This permanent installation marks the 25th anniversary of the character and adds a new dimension to the area's celebrated film history.

Joining the Ranks of Cinema Legends

The statue captures Bridget in a familiar pose, dressed in a mini-skirt and cardigan, holding her iconic diary and pen. The ceremony was a star-studded affair, attended by Renée Zellweger, the actress who brought Bridget to life on screen, and Helen Fielding, the novelist who created the character.

This new addition is a significant first for Leicester Square's 'Scenes in the Square' sculpture trail. Bridget Jones is the first rom-com character to be honoured amongst the square's line-up of cinematic heavyweights. She now stands in the company of legends such as Harry Potter, Mary Poppins, and Paddington Bear.

Where to Find the 'Adorable' New Attraction

Visitors can find the Bridget Jones statue in a prime location within the square. It is positioned opposite the Queen's House building, which is home to Horizon's Casino. She is in excellent company, with other famous figures like Bugs Bunny and Indiana Jones situated nearby.

The best part? Visiting the 'Scenes in the Square' trail is completely free. This offers both Londoners and tourists a fantastic, cost-free photo opportunity in the very heart of the city's entertainment district, a area long-associated with glamorous film premieres.

Renée Zellweger herself described the statue as 'adorable', perfectly capturing the spirit of a character beloved for her humanity, flaws, and relatable, messy moments. Helen Fielding expressed her thrill at seeing her creation immortalised as a British icon, standing proudly alongside other film greats.
