Hollywood star Adam Sandler caused a delightful stir for south London residents after making an unexpected appearance at a cosy Battersea café over the weekend.
A Casual Sunday Surprise
The comedy icon, famous for films like Happy Gilmore and Uncut Gems, visited Il Molino on Battersea Park Road on Sunday, November 23. Dressed in a green parka and a smart shacket, the 59-year-old actor reportedly walked into the Italian coffee spot like any other customer.
One lucky local, Adrià Cepero Santos, experienced what he called an "amazing coincidence" when he came face-to-face with the star. "I noticed him straight away and his reaction was unexpected," Santos recounted. "He gave me a fist bump while saying 'wow, you look like me' with a smile."
A Friendly Chat with a Fan
The encounter was far from a brief moment. Sandler, described as "very friendly and chill," happily engaged in conversation. He even cracked a joke about how hot the coffee was, putting everyone at ease.
Santos, a languages teacher originally from Tarragona, Spain, seized the opportunity to ask Sandler about his fellow countryman, basketball player Juancho Hernangómez. The pair had co-starred in the 2022 Netflix film Hustle. According to Santos, Sandler "only said good things, basically that he was a really nice, cool guy."
The Hotel Transylvania star also revealed that he is currently in London for a film project and took a genuine interest, asking Adria about his own life and work.
Sandler's London Connections
This isn't the first time Adam Sandler has been seen enjoying the UK capital. He is no stranger to London, having been spotted shooting hoops on Clapham Common in 2024 and again just last month. His October visit followed the premiere of his new movie, Jay Kelly, where he stars alongside George Clooney and Laura Dern.
Sandler's Battersea appearance is part of a recent trend of random celebrity sightings across the city. Sandra Bullock and Diane Wiest were recently pictured filming Practical Magic 2 in Worcester Park, while Jack Lowden was seen shooting his role as Mr Darcy for a new Netflix adaptation of Pride and Prejudice in Spitalfields.
