Peppa Pig has completed a journey into space, reaching an altitude of more than 100,000 feet, in a promotional event tied to Wednesday's solar eclipse. The flight was captured in 4K resolution and screened at the NEC's Lakeside Cinema, home of the Peppa Pig Space Adventure experience.
Peppa's Historic Flight
The beloved children's character took off and ascended above the planet's atmosphere, floating just above Earth before returning safely. During the flight, Peppa spotted the NEC and other landmarks from above, and with her teddy bear in hand, she was heard saying, 'This is so much fun!'
The mission was designed to inspire children ahead of the solar eclipse, during which the Moon will obscure more than 90% of the Sun between 6.17pm and 8.06pm. This eclipse is considered the most significant since 1999, with millions expected to view it using proper safety glasses.
NEC's Response and Family Activities
Sarah Harvey, Deputy CEO at the NEC, expressed delight at helping Peppa complete her world-first journey. She said, 'It's important for us to continue to inspire curiosity and creativity in the younger generation, and this was a fantastic way of proving to young explorers that no dream is too big to achieve.'
The Peppa Pig Space Adventure at the NEC includes interactive rooms where children can play and discover, such as Evie's nursery and the playroom. A competition invites young artists to design a rocket for Peppa, with submissions open for creative participation.

The animated series, which launched in 2004, has aired in over 180 countries and won numerous broadcasting awards. Peppa has become a cultural icon, with merchandise, theme parks, and video games contributing to its global success. The franchise recently made headlines when Daddy Pig ran the London Marathon with Joe Wicks, and a hearing loss storyline for George was praised by charities.
