Madonna will not be performing at Glastonbury in 2027, according to festival organiser Emily Eavis. In an interview with BBC Radio 4's PM programme, Eavis dismissed speculation about the singer's debut, stating, “No, it’s definitely not Madonna, I’ll tell you that.” She confirmed that all three headliners for the June event have been booked, adding, “We have got three [other] headliners and we’re very excited about it – it’s all coming together really well.”
Taylor Swift Rumours Unconfirmed
When asked about the possibility of Taylor Swift performing, Eavis laughed and declined to discuss the lineup further. The speculation around Madonna began in June when she told BBC talkshow host Graham Norton that she had “something bigger” planned in the UK next summer. Madonna, 67, has never appeared at the Somerset festival despite holding the record for the most UK top 10 singles by a female artist.
Eavis addressed the prevalence of rumours, saying, “Pretty much 95% of the stories [about Glastonbury] you read are not true, and rumours are pretty much always wrong.” She added, “But the good news is that we’ve got our headliners and we’re cracking on, and we just can’t wait to get back.”
Madonna's Recent Chart Success
Last year's Glastonbury headliners included the 1975, Neil Young, and Olivia Rodrigo, with Rod Stewart in the legend slot. On Friday, it was confirmed that Madonna's collaboration with Kylie Minogue, “Love Sensation,” debuted at No 8 on the UK singles chart, marking her highest-charting UK song in 17 years. The track is the second single from her latest album, Confessions II, and features a remix with the Australian singer.
Madonna's previous highest-charting single was “Celebration” in 2009. “Love Sensation” has become her 65th UK top 10 single, spanning four decades since the 1980s. Only Elvis Presley (76) and Cliff Richard (68) have achieved more UK top 10 singles. Last month, Madonna performed during the half-time show at the Fifa men's World Cup final in New York between Spain and Argentina.
