The UK's biggest ever South African festival, Lekker in London, is set to take place in Cheam Park, south London, on Saturday August 29, 2026. The event promises a celebration of South African culture, including traditional braai (barbecue), biltong (dried cured meat), Castle lager, and a screening of the South Africa vs New Zealand rugby match.
Line-up and tickets
More than 2,300 tickets have already been sold for the festival, which bills itself as the 'biggest South African festival in British history'. Confirmed performers include comedian Kevin Fraser, Johannesburg rock band Prime Circle, musician Majozi, electronic group Goodlook, and rapper Biggy.
Community and cultural connection
Event organiser Lyle Millar told the Local Democracy Service that the festival aims to unite the South African diaspora in south London, known as the 'Biltong Belt', while also introducing British attendees to South African customs. 'For many South Africans living in Britain, the festival provides a rare opportunity to reconnect with a sense of home and community. At the same time, it offers British attendees the chance to experience South African culture, warmth and food in a friendly environment,' Millar said.
