The immersive David Lynch tribute event, A Gathering of the Angels, is returning to London's Genesis Cinema in Whitechapel on September 26-27, following a successful debut last year. The weekend celebration offers fans the chance to meet cast members from Lynch's films and TV shows, participate in interactive events, enjoy live cabaret, watch film screenings, and engage in cosplay.
Celebrating a Fallen Icon
Since David Lynch's passing last year, events celebrating his life and work have sprung up across the globe, from film screenings and rock gigs to art shows and pop-up diners. However, none have been more elaborate than A Gathering of the Angels, which promises bottomless coffee and donuts, a nod to the iconic Twin Peaks catchphrase, and appearances from several notable cast members.
Among the guests are Harry Goaz, who gained global fame as the lovable, teary-eyed Deputy Andy in Twin Peaks; Ian Buchanan, who played his devious love rival Dick Tremayne; George Griffith, who portrayed the sneering villain Ray Monroe in Twin Peaks: The Return; and Sabrina Sutherland, executive producer of Twin Peaks: The Return and Lynch's longtime right-hand woman.
Interactive and Immersive Experiences
The event will also feature an online panel with several of Lynch's closest collaborators, including regular editor Duwayne Dunham and legendary special effects artist Gary D'Amico. Attendees can enjoy live cabaret performances from London's Double R Club, a DJ set from iconic mixmaster and Lynch fan DJ Yoda, and a mysterious and theatrical Blue Velvet Immersive Experience.
Screenings of Blue Velvet and Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me will be shown on the Genesis Cinema's massive main screen, providing a cinematic experience for fans. The event celebrates the weird and wonderful world of David Lynch fandom, from log ladies and ghosts to pie costumes.
