Danson Fireworks is set to return to Danson Park in Bexleyheath on November 7, 2026, following its cancellation in 2025 after more than 60 years. The event will feature a 20-minute display choreographed to music over Danson Lake, along with live music, entertainment, a DJ, fairground rides, and a food village.
Event returns after 2025 cancellation
The 2025 event was called off after organisers said some preparations were taking longer than expected, and they did not feel confident they could deliver the event to the standard local families had come to expect. In a statement at the time, they said: “As one of the largest annual events in South London, delivering Danson Park Fireworks is a huge undertaking that relies on carefully choreographed planning across many areas.
“Unfortunately, for reasons beyond our control, some preparations were taking longer than expected, and we did not feel confident that we could deliver the 100 per cent level of enjoyment and satisfaction that local families have come to expect.” Organisers instead turned their attention towards a return in 2026, with an extended 14-month planning period getting underway.
Event details and schedule
Gates will open at 4pm, with entertainment beginning from 5.15pm before the fireworks start at 8pm. The event has a maximum capacity of 21,000 people, with Made in Kent Radio set to compere the evening. This year’s event will also support The Community Hospice, which provides free end-of-life and palliative care to people across Greenwich and Bexley.
