Comedian Mo Gilligan Breaks His Silence on Stage

In a candid moment during a recent comedy performance, popular British comedian and television personality Mo Gilligan has directly addressed the rumours and online speculation surrounding his son, Rudi. The 37-year-old Masked Singer judge, who had remained largely silent on the matter since news broke in July 2025, used his London stage to speak openly about the child he welcomed in January 2024.

A Public Declaration and a Defence

According to reports from The Sun, Gilligan did not shy away from the topic. He described his son, Rudi, as a "very lovely boy" and went out of his way to praise the child's mother, model Selina Christoforou. "Despite whatever you see on social media, his mum is a good mum," Gilligan told the audience. He emphasised his respect for her, stating, "I'm not here to disrespect. That's the mother of my child. And I would never disrespect her publicly because she's raising my son."

This public defence comes after Christoforou had previously used social media to criticise Gilligan, alleging he showed little interest in their child. Gilligan appeared to respond to those claims at the time by posting a video of them spending time together.

In a characteristically humorous vein, the comedian also made a light-hearted joke about the financial realities of parenthood, quipping that if viewers saw him on Antiques Roadshow they would know "the rent is due", a clear reference to child maintenance payments.

A Complex Year of Family News

The situation has been particularly complex for Gilligan's personal life. The news of Rudi's existence became public in July 2025, just as the comedian was anticipating the birth of another child with his fiancée, wellness influencer Taia Tully, 28. Tully gave birth to their baby in September 2025, and the couple have chosen to keep the baby's gender and name private.

A source close to the couple had previously confirmed their engagement to The Sun, revealing that Gilligan had proposed in a private but significant gesture. The source added that the couple, who live together in London, are "so in love and really excited to be starting a family together."

Regarding his relationship with his son Rudi, a source indicated that Gilligan sees the boy "semi-regularly". The child was the result of a brief relationship with Christoforou, who discovered she was pregnant in May 2023.

Despite some professional changes, including the end of The Lateish Show and the cancellation of That's My Jam, Mo Gilligan remains a prominent figure on British television. He continues his role as a judge on ITV's The Masked Singer and is a regular on Celebrity Gogglebox.
