Millie Bobby Brown, the 22-year-old star of Stranger Things, has revealed she believes she was a closeted gay soldier in a past life who was killed by a sword thrust through the spine. She made the confession during an interview with Capital Buzz alongside her Enola Holmes 3 co-star Louis Partridge, after the pair began discussing past lives.
Birthmark as Evidence
Brown explained that she has a birthmark on her lower back, at the very bottom of her spine, which she says is 'obviously meant to be the way that you died in your past life.' She elaborated on a theory about medieval battlefield executions: 'In war… to kill people but make them have a painful death, they would put swords up people’s spines. So they were completely paralysed, but they would obviously kind of die, and that’s how I think I died.'
Identifying Her Past Self
From there, Brown pieced together the rest of her former identity. 'I think I might have been a soldier,' she said. She then added, 'Definitely a man. Hopefully a closeted gay man.' She did not specify which war or century this may have taken place in, though the sword clue narrows it down somewhat. Partridge, meanwhile, was not convinced, replying, 'No, I don’t believe in past lives.' Brown accepted this with 'Okay, well, that ends that then.'
Beliefs on Afterlife
The conversation shifted to the afterlife, with Brown stating she believes people go to heaven after they die. Brown is no stranger to wielding swords in this lifetime; she starred in the Netflix fantasy film Damsel last year, playing a princess who fights back with a sword after being offered as a dragon’s dinner. 'Perhaps it all felt strangely familiar,' the article notes.
