Coronation Street star Olivia Frances Brown, who plays the twisted sister Jodie Ramsey on the soap, has reportedly split from her fiancé, actor James Nelson-Joyce. The couple, who were considered a rock-solid showbiz pair, have unfollowed each other on Instagram and removed all traces of their relationship from social media.
Reasons Behind the Split
A source told The Sun: 'It's finished. They were a rock-solid showbiz couple, and their fans will be absolutely shocked and devastated.' The insider added that the couple had been 'struggling to make time in their diaries for each other.'
Olivia had previously spoken about how they managed their respective careers. Speaking to YM Liverpool, she said: 'We do read lines together, but we respect each other's creative process. Sometimes it's about giving each other space – creative work can be quite solitary. We both understand that, which is valuable in a partner. We also understand the demands of the job and that work sometimes has to take priority, so it helps to be with someone who gets that. Ultimately, it's about balance. Work doesn't always stay at work in this job, so knowing how to switch off and decompress makes all the difference.'
Olivia's New Look
In a classic post-breakup move, Olivia recently debuted a new hairstyle. Showing off her stylish new bangs, she captioned a series of snaps: 'chopped the fringe, felt cute.' Her Coronation Street co-stars flooded the post with supportive comments. Claire Sweeney, who plays Cassie Plummer, said 'Love it,' while Lucy Fallon (Bethany Platt) echoed with 'i lurv it.' Olivia's on-screen sister Julia Goulding added 'Beauts,' and Grace Ashcroft-Gardner (Lily Platt) commented 'unreal.'
James Nelson-Joyce: The Fiancé
James Nelson-Joyce is an acclaimed actor known for roles in Mount Pleasant, Little Boy Blue, The Nest, A Town Called Malice, and This City Is Ours. He has also been tipped as a potential future James Bond.
On-Screen Drama for Jodie Ramsey
On the show, Olivia's character Jodie Ramsey has been causing chaos. After emerging from a van driven by Graham Foster, she reunited with her sister Shona Platt and set her sights on stealing Shona's husband, David. Finding herself on the outs with Shona and making an enemy of David after her seduction plot failed, Jodie has now targeted Daniel Osbourne, whose life has crumbled since the revelation that his ex-girlfriend Megan is a paedophile.
Jodie has been manipulating Daniel, creating an online persona called 'Truthteller' to troll him, claiming he knew about Megan's predatory behaviour. Her trolling leads to Daniel being physically attacked by youths who read the posts. When Daniel confesses to his father Ken that he spent weeks locked up with Jodie, Ken is horrified and asserts that Daniel's son Bertie deserves better.
