Masked Singer's Can of Worms Costume Holds 'Secret Clues' in Side Panels
Secret Clues Hidden on Masked Singer's Can of Worms Costume

For a guaranteed dose of Saturday night joy, few things beat the bizarre and brilliant spectacle of ITV's The Masked Singer UK. The show, which returns tonight, is less about vocal perfection and more about delivering pure, colourful entertainment to millions of viewers. A major part of the fun comes from the astonishingly creative costumes that completely conceal the celebrities inside.

Where to Find the Hidden Identity Clues

This series features a particularly eccentric lineup, including characters like Conkers, Arctic Fox, and the intriguing Can of Worms. The latter, which looks exactly like a tin of wriggling invertebrates with a 'do not open' warning, performed 'Be Our Guest' in the first week and is set to return for its second performance on January 17, 2026.

In an exclusive chat with Metro, the show's costume designer, Tim Simpson of Plunge Creations, revealed that Can of Worms' outfit might contain deliberate hints about the star's true identity. Simpson explained that while the base design he created was free of clues, he intentionally left spaces for the production team to add them.

'I left some spaces for them to add some clue details. I'm not even sure if they did. I think I'm going to have to watch it and find out,' Simpson said. He pointed viewers towards two specific areas on the costume: 'There are two panels on the side of the can... Just above the ingredients and above the barcode are the two spaces where you can possibly look out for a clue.'

A Designer's Hidden Gag for Personal Enjoyment

Beyond the potential secret clues, Simpson also packed the costume with hidden details purely for his own amusement, most of which TV audiences will never see. He spent considerable time on elaborate graphic design work for the back of the can, which is never filmed.

'There's a whole spiel on the back of the can about how at Early Bird HQ, they get up each morning to collect only the finest, plumpest worms. It goes on and on and on,' he outlined. 'There's this blurb on the back, and there's the ingredients list, there's an allergy list, there's everything... It's my stupid collection of jokes.'

It is this meticulous attention to detail, seen and unseen, that makes the show's costumes such a marvel of imagination each season.

Viewer Theories Run Rampant

The mystery has already sparked fervent speculation online. Fans on social media platform X have thrown names like comedian Paul Whitehouse, JLS star JB Gill, and presenter Marvin Humes into the ring as potential celebrities beneath the wriggling mask.

As the nation prepares its magnifying glasses for tonight's episode, the hunt is well and truly on. Will the secret panels give the game away, or will Can of Worms keep us guessing a little longer?

The Masked Singer UK airs tonight at 7pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
