Television history is set to be made tonight as ITV broadcasts the unprecedented soap opera crossover event, 'Corriedale'. The special hour-long episode unites the casts of Coronation Street and Emmerdale in a dramatic narrative that promises carnage and will irrevocably change lives in both fictional universes.
When and Where to Watch Corriedale
The landmark episode is a centrepiece of ITV's new soap 'power hour' scheduling. Corriedale will air at 8pm on Monday, January 5, 2026. It will not be released early on ITVX. The crossover is preceded by regular half-hour episodes of Emmerdale at 7pm and Coronation Street at 7:30pm. These preceding episodes will be available to watch from 7am on the same day via YouTube and ITVX.
The Full Corriedale Cast Revealed
After months of teasers, producers have confirmed the full list of characters appearing in the spectacular. The confirmed cast from Coronation Street includes Sally Carman-Duttine as Abi Webster, William Roache as Ken Barlow, Kate Ford as Tracy Barlow, and Michael Le Vell as Kevin Webster, among many others.
From Emmerdale, viewers will see Jeff Hordley as Cain Dingle, Emma Atkins as Charity Dingle, Lucy Pargeter as Chas Dingle, and Ryan Hawley as Robert Sugden. A major confirmation is the involvement of Oliver Farnworth as John Sugden, following his festive return to the Dales, which ties into fan theories sparked by a wanted poster spotted in Weatherfield.
Farnworth himself expressed his excitement about the project, stating: 'Having been in both shows now, I was super excited. It's just iconic, isn't it? I knew that with Duncan Foster directing it, it was going to be good.'
What Chaos Unfolds in the Episode?
The action takes place on a dark country lane between Hotten and Weatherfield, in the aftermath of Debbie's wedding. A series of catastrophic events is set in motion when Carl Webster drives dangerously while intoxicated, with Debbie as his passenger.
Simultaneously, a minibus of wedding guests heads toward the impending disaster. In a separate vehicle, Becky Swain loses control while distracted, with Lisa and Betsy as passengers, as Kit and Carla give chase. Further drama ensues as Aaron Dingle and John Sugden struggle for control of a car and a weapon, leading Robert and Joe Tate to pursue them.
Meanwhile, Cain and Moira's calm drive to Manchester airport with newlyweds Sarah and Jacob is interrupted by Mack and Charity, resulting in a shocking crash. The episode culminates at Hotten General Hospital, where the injured are treated and families mourn, leaving the fates of many characters hanging in the balance.
Is This a One-Off Event?
Yes, Corriedale is confirmed as a one-off crossover episode. However, the consequences of the night's events will ripple through the subsequent episodes of both Coronation Street and Emmerdale airing throughout the week. ITV's Executive Producer for Continuing Drama, Iain MacLeod, has suggested that while the two soaps now officially share a fictional universe, further direct crossovers are not currently planned.
MacLeod teased the episode earlier, saying: 'As a soap fan myself, I think my head is going to explode when the episode airs next year. It will be mind-blowing, historical and unmissable.' With multiple crashes, high-stakes chases, and confirmed character deaths, tonight's television event is poised to deliver on that promise.
