The villainous chapter of Becky Swain on Coronation Street has finally closed, with her dramatic exit scenes being released early on ITVX. Fans of the long-running ITV soap can now watch the conclusion to her sinister storyline, which aired ahead of its television broadcast on January 12, 2026.
A Reign of Terror Comes to a Dramatic End
Played by actress Amy Cudden, Becky Swain returned from the dead last summer, having faked her own death in a hit-and-run four years prior. Her resurrection brought immense misery to her wife Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) and daughter Betsy (Sydney Martin), while leaving factory boss Carla Connor (Alison King) deeply traumatised. Initially claiming her disappearance was due to a botched undercover operation, it soon became clear Becky was far more corrupt than anyone had imagined.
Her singular goal was to reclaim her family and flee abroad, but Carla stood firmly in her way. Not only was Carla engaged to Lisa, but she was also determined to expose Becky's crimes. This resolve led Carla into a dangerous confrontation at Becky's flat, where she was caught and trapped in an airing cupboard.
The Crash That Changed Everything
With Carla presumed to be heartbroken in Lanzarote, Becky seized her chance to manipulate Lisa. However, the plot unravelled when a phone call from Carla to Lisa distracted Becky while she was driving. This caused Becky to crash head-on into oncoming traffic, resulting in a major pile-up. The accident proved to be a turning point, forcing Lisa to see Becky's true nature at last.
Lisa immediately placed Becky under arrest, but the danger was far from over. During a prison visit last week, Becky threatened to frame Lisa as an accessory to her crimes, vowing to take her down too. This left Lisa terrified for her future and her ability to care for Betsy.
A Daughter's Heartbreak and a Final Fate
In the episode released on January 12, Lisa confided her fears in Carla, asking her to protect Betsy if she were imprisoned. Unbeknownst to them, Betsy overheard the conversation from the stairs. Horrified at the prospect of losing her mother, Betsy confronted Becky in prison.
In a devastating exchange, Betsy blamed Becky for the death of her boyfriend, Mason Radcliffe, who was stabbed after giving police evidence linked to Becky's 'death'. Betsy declared she wished Becky had died instead of Mason, leaving the manipulative mother distraught. Fearing she had made things worse, Betsy later confided in friend Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton).
The episode ultimately revealed Becky's final fate, drawing her tumultuous storyline to a close. Viewers are now left to wonder if Lisa and Betsy can finally move on with their lives, and whether Carla will be a part of that future.
