In a surprising move, Nintendo has stealthily released two of the most celebrated indie games from recent years onto the Switch 2 platform. The latest Indie World Showcase, which aired today, featured a mix of new announcements and ports, with standout titles including the roguelike puzzle game Blue Prince and the Zelda-inspired bullet hell hybrid Minishoot' Adventures. This event comes as fans continue to await a traditional Nintendo Direct, which has been absent in 2026 so far.
Highlighted Game Releases and Availability
Blue Prince, which debuted on other consoles and PC last year, was a strong contender for best indie game of 2025. It secured the Best Indie Game award at The Golden Joystick Awards and appeared in numerous top game lists, though it lost to Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 at The Game Awards. Meanwhile, Minishoot' Adventures, originally launched in 2024 for PC and mobile, has now expanded to multiple platforms, including Switch 1, Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One, offering a unique blend of exploration and twin-stick shooter action.

The showcase also unveiled several other promising indie games. Rotwood, a new beat 'em-up from Klei Entertainment, is available immediately, while Blighted, a top-down action game from Drinkbox Studios, is set for an autumn 2026 release. Other notable mentions include the diorama puzzle game Woodo, which will utilize Switch 2's mouse controls this summer, and the roguelike first-person shooter Deadzone: Rogue, scheduled for March 17. One significant absence from the event was Mina The Hollower, the upcoming game from Yacht Club Games, which has faced delays and remains without a confirmed release date. As for Nintendo's first-party plans, speculation abounds regarding a potential Direct later this month, especially with no major Switch 2 exclusives announced beyond the upcoming Pokémon Pokopia. Fans are left anticipating titles like a new Yoshi platformer and Fire Emblem game, all lacking firm launch schedules.
