Peckham Car Boot, one of south London's most popular car boot sales, is expanding into east London with a new monthly market in Leyton starting in September 2026. The organisers, Erin Murphy and Steven Lopes, will host the events at George Mitchell School as a trial run, with plans to make the market permanent if it proves popular with the local community.
Expansion Beyond South London
For the past seven years, Peckham Car Boot has operated as a bi-monthly market in south London, where sellers flog everything from pre-loved pieces by big-name brands to vintage homewares out of the trunks of their cars. Murphy and Lopes launched an additional iteration in Balham last year to serve second-hand treasure hunters in that area. Now, they are bringing the weekend market north of the River Thames for the first time.
From September, the market will be held at George Mitchell School in Leyton on three dates: September 6, October 4, and November 1. The organisers have stated they will use these three events as a trial run and will look to make the event permanent if it is popular with the E10 crowd.
Stoke Newington Trial Also Planned
Londoners with an N postcode should not feel left out, as Peckham Car Boot is also planning to trial a market in Stoke Newington. It will head to Stoke Newington School for three monthly events from September to 'test the waters'. The dates for the Stoke Newington market are September 20, October 18, and November 15.
Its founders are encouraging sellers and shoppers to 'come down, see what it's about, and help us decide if this is a regular thing', according to the announcement.
Booking Details and Pitch Prices
For those looking to offload some old gear, bookings are already open for both the east and north London markets. Pitch prices start at £15. The organisers have encouraged potential sellers to consider having a good attic clean-out to participate.
Peckham Car Boot has built a reputation over seven years as one of south London's finest car boot sales, attracting both new and veteran resellers who sell a wide range of pre-loved items, including clothing from big-name brands and vintage homewares.
