The eagerly anticipated opening date for the new Home Bargains store in Croydon has now been officially confirmed, marking a significant addition to the local retail landscape. The discount retailer has announced that its latest outlet, situated in Drury Crescent just off the busy Purley Way, will welcome customers for the first time at 8am on Saturday, January 24.
A Boost for Local Employment
This new branch is set to create a total of 55 jobs, providing a welcome economic boost to the Croydon area. Of these positions, 47 are entirely new hires, reflecting the store's commitment to investing in the local community. The recruitment drive has already been completed, with the team poised to deliver excellent service from day one.
Store Manager's Enthusiasm
Store manager Ranjith Sithiravel expressed his excitement about the upcoming launch, stating: "Opening this store is an exciting milestone, and I’m proud to lead such a dedicated team. We can’t wait to share our products, our service, and our enthusiasm with everyone who walks through our doors." He emphasised that the store is strategically located to cater to the needs of local residents, offering a comprehensive range of products under one roof.
Extensive Product Range
The 11,550 square foot site will stock a wide variety of everyday essentials, ensuring convenience for shoppers. In addition to general merchandise, the store will feature fresh, chilled, and frozen food sections, making it a one-stop shop for household needs. This diverse offering is designed to meet the demands of the bustling Croydon community.
Part of a National Expansion
This new Croydon store joins over 600 Home Bargains outlets already operating across the United Kingdom. The company has demonstrated remarkable resilience in a challenging retail environment, bucking the trend of store closures seen by many competitors. On average, Home Bargains opens approximately 50 new stores each year, showcasing its robust growth strategy.
Recent Openings and Future Plans
In 2024, Home Bargains expanded its presence with a new store in West Drayton, followed by another opening in Borehamwood last August. The company has ambitious plans to continue this expansion, aiming to grow its portfolio to 800 stores nationwide. This growth is expected to support up to 35,000 staff members, further solidifying its position as a major employer in the UK retail sector.
