A Co-op store in Chislehurst could stay open later every day under plans submitted to Bromley Council. Proposals were lodged on September 3, outlining plans to extend the opening hours at the food store located at 76 Green Lane.
Application seeks to vary trading hours
The application has been submitted by Co-operative Group Food Limited and seeks permission to vary an existing planning condition governing trading hours. If approved, the convenience store would be allowed to open from 7am to 11pm seven days a week.
The current permitted hours are 7am to 10pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 10pm on Sundays. The proposals would therefore allow an additional hour of trading each evening and earlier opening on Sundays.
Demand for late-evening shopping cited
According to supporting documents, the applicant believes the extended hours would better serve local residents, meet demand for late-evening shopping and provide greater flexibility for shift workers.
The site has operated as a convenience store since planning permission was granted in 2010 to convert the former Royal British Legion Club into a food store.
Council to consider proposals
Bromley Council will now consider the application, with residents and businesses able to comment on the proposals as part of the planning process.
