Morrisons has issued an urgent recall for one of its Savers products due to concerns that the packages may contain pieces of glass. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) confirmed that Morrisons Savers Cashews have been removed from shelves across the country.
Affected Batches and Best Before Dates
The recall specifically applies to the 125g packages with the following best before dates: 9 August 2026, 6 September 2026, 26 September 2026, 28 September 2026, and 9 October 2026. Customers who have purchased any of these batches are strongly urged not to consume the product and to return it to their nearest Morrisons store for a full refund.
Company Statement
A Morrisons spokesperson said: 'No other products are affected by this issue. We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause and assure customers of our continuing commitment to the highest standard of product quality and safety.' The supermarket chain emphasized that this recall is isolated to the specified cashew nuts and does not impact any other items in its Savers range or elsewhere.
Recent Similar Recalls
This recall follows a similar incident in late April, when an urgent recall was issued for the Millennium Peanuts Caramel Milk Chocolate bar sold at B&M and Home Bargains over health fears. In that case, producer Loudwater Trade & Finance Ltd recalled the chocolate bar because it failed to declare allergens in English on the label. The chocolate contained milk, soya, and peanuts, and may have contained hazelnuts, almonds, cashew nuts, and cereals containing gluten, none of which were declared. The FSA warned that this posed a health risk for individuals with allergies or intolerances.
Consumer Advice
Shoppers who have bought the affected Morrisons Savers Cashews are advised to check the best before date on the packaging. If it matches any of the recalled dates, the product should be returned to any Morrisons store for a full refund. No receipt is required. For further information, customers can contact Morrisons customer service or visit the FSA website for updates on food recalls.
